Dress up an ordinary fruit salad and make it perfect for any occasion!
How many cookouts, parties, and get-togethers have you been to this past spring and summer? If you’re like me, you lost count back in May….
But one thing for sure, I usually am the one to bring fruit salad. So many of these gathering have an overload of potato chips and dips that can sure to ruin any chance of you ever fitting in that bathing suit. Fruit salad is refreshing, travels well, and goes with any food-theme: cook out, BBQ, parties, etc.
Why not bring a fruit a salad. Dress it up, and it will be more tempting than those chip and brownies!
Easy ways to dress up any fruit salad:
Add berries. Cutting up watermelon? Why not add some berries- raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, or strawberries are all great additions. Use them sparingly as a garnish, or pour them on for a pop of color and falvor- either way can really enhance chopped fruit.
Herbs. Mint and lemon balm leaves add a fancy garnish while also adding a touch of taste. There are also many types of mint plants to choose from: chocolate mint, lemon mint, cinnamon mint.
Spices. Cinnamon added to peaches, pears, or apples can add some extra flavor. Cardamom tastes delightful on citrus.
Coconut. Shredded coconut or coconut flakes can add a touch to any fruit salad.
Pomegranate. Pomegranate seeds can now be bought in bags in the frozen section and in cups in the refrigerated section of produce, making it really easy to pour them on top of a salad. They add a burst of flavor and crunch.
Citrus. Lemon, lime, a drizzle of grapefruit can add an extra kick to your fruit. Try a mixture of lime juice, honey, and cardamom- poured over citrus sections or over a mixed fruit salad.
